INTERIOR STYLE: Scandinavian, Retro

Our guest; Irene, the face behind ‘Noord en Zoet’ interior advice. Her advice is characterized by a calm, Scandinavian base with a sauce of personality and something unique.

Passion from an early age

The passion for interior design started early. As a child, Irene was already making small changes in her room. This started with wrapping boxes with colorful wrapping paper and making pillows. Through Instagram, followers were inspired by images of her own home. The profession of interior styling then gradually came her way.

The meaning of ‘Noord en Zoet’

She also organized "interior parties" at people's homes. "I would bring accessories to style on the spot and we would make mood boards." After this, her business started to grow and Irene was regularly asked if she also gave interior design advice. 'Noord en Zoet' interior design was created. A name that did not just fall out of the sky. 'Noord', which means 'North', stands for Scandinavian, natural and sustainable. 'Zoet', which means 'Sweet' refers to the extravagances that consist of color and something special such as a disco ball or reuse of materials. In addition, the letters N and Z are also the initials of her daughters.

Personal interior advice

At 'Noord en Zoet' you can get interior design advice from small to large questions. From a low-threshold session to a comprehensive plan from A to Z. The goal is a nice, quiet base to which you can add your personal touch. Important in her own interior design style is light and consistency. "I love see-throughs and corners of spaces. Every time you turn around in the room, you should be able to marvel."

Scandinavian retro

Her personal style can also be seen in the styling of sofas Finn and Odin in the By Sidde studio. Finn in Simply Beige is immersed in a Scandinavian, retro setting with a 70's vibe. The disco ball brings a touch of goofiness. Odin in Skin Powder is combined with nude, pink and dark brown tones. The warm wooden tables matches this well.

Musical chairs in the house

Indispensable in an interior? Warmth! "The feeling that a house embraces you as soon as you walk in and offers a kind of peace." A small addiction has Irene for chairs and cabinets. It is regularly playing musical chairs in the house with by now the rule to keep the number of chairs the same. Cabinets, preferably vintage, are also brought into the house with regularity.

Dreaming about the future

In the years that Irene has been working as an interior stylist, many beautiful projects have come along. The best thing about the profession is being able to make clients happy and hearing afterwards that this is what they were really looking for. Another dream would be to design her own furniture or take on a business project such as advice for a store or restaurant. The Cherry on the cake? That should be an inspiration showroom of her own!

Don't hesitate and stay true to yourself

As advice, Irene says not to hesitate too much. Can't decide? Then hire an interior stylist to take away the stress of choosing and avoid mis-selling. Also don't be afraid to style things together. If you like what you see, then it may looks well together.
